Footage After Hours

  • 1 min read

Beginning this May, Footage will launch Footage After Hours, a monthly in store series introducing a rotating group of makers, producers and independent craftspeople into the space after dark.

Supported through the City of Sydney’s Night Time Diversification initiative, the series is intended to extend the store beyond standard retail hours and open the space to a broader conversation around independent production, hospitality, objects and culture.

Each month, Footage After Hours will focus on a different maker or producer working across fragrance, food, ceramics, tea, design and small batch production. The sessions will include tastings, presentations, demonstrations and informal conversations within the store.

As the direction of Footage continues to evolve beyond its origins in sneakers and apparel, the store increasingly reflects a wider network of independent makers and producers whose work sits alongside clothing rather than separate from it.

Darlinghurst has always been shaped by independent operators willing to build something different within the neighbourhood. Footage After Hours is intended as an extension of that spirit and a way to bring people together around the makers, products and practices we believe in.

The series forms part of the City of Sydney’s broader Night Time Diversification program supporting businesses contributing to a more varied and community focused night time economy.

Update: Jan 2023

Looking back, Footage After Hours became one of the early foundations for what would later evolve into Eastern Hill General Supplies. The series helped shape a broader approach that moved fluidly between garments, tea, food, objects and independent makers, an approach that continues today.
