The Aoarashi  青嵐 matcha from Marukyu Koyamaen is an award winning ceremonial grade matcha that is favoured by many thanks to it's delicate flavours and low astringency levels. This tea is light, gently herbaceous with a soft, creamy finish and is our pick for those who are starting on their matcha journey. We recommend drinking this tea without milk in order to not mask its delicate flavour.

Ceremonial matcha are graded by 7 tea masters in Japan and given their respective poetic names derived from the essence of the tea by these masters. Aoarashi  青嵐 translates to 'Blue Storm'. It encapsulates the essence of mountain mist which aptly describes the flavour of this tea. Delicate and refreshing.

Marukyu Koyamaen's '丸久小山園', history spans 300 years, and epitomises a commitment to quality in tea production. Located in the heart of Uji, Kyoto, this esteemed tea grower, procurer, and blender boasts a private estate dating back to 1704. Their range of Japanese green teas are meticulously crafted through a combination of traditional and modern techniques and remains unparalleled in the world of Matcha making. From supplying matcha to top-tier hotels, shrines and temples, to tea schools, Marukyu Koyamaen's influence is far-reaching. Additionally, they offer food-grade matcha for confectionery, primarily distributed through upscale supermarkets, ensuring their legacy extends beyond tea connoisseurs.
