Malfroy's Gold Blue Mountains Polyflora Wild Honey is a unique wild honey is produced by bees from 100% natural comb in the ancient World Heritage listed Greater Blue Mountains area. The Warré apiaries are located in a diverse mix of eco-regions, providing an incredible diversity of nectar and pollen sources for the bees to forage.

The resulting honey has a complex, intense and ever-changing flavour profile. The 2022 batch is a soft honey with light floral notes.

Due to this incredible diversity, no single jar of honey is the same; each speaks of the utterly unique landscape of the Blue Mountains. This honey has a rating of TA 21+ (equivalent to UMF 21+ / MGO 899+).

As our Wild honey is genuinely cold pressed from virgin comb it may be crystallised in the jar. Cold pressed honey often has a cloudy or opaque appearance and soft, thick, even texture with finely grained crystals.

Warre hives located in World Heritage wilderness

This honey is produced by the bees in the ancient World Heritage listed Greater Blue Mountains area. Malfroys Gold apiaries are located in a diverse mix of eco-regions, providing an incredible diversity of nectar and pollen sources for the bees to forage. The resulting honey has a complex, intense and ever-changing flavour profile.

The protected area is over one million hectares in size, rising from sea level to over 1000m in altitude and is fantastically rich in melliferous wildflowers (more than 1,500 flowering species have been recorded and 13% of the worlds Eucalypt species occur here naturally). Importantly, and due to the large foraging radius of each bee colony, the honey is a distillation of the nectar from woodland, open forest, closed forest (rainforest), heathland, swampland, stream communities and the hanging swamps that occur on vertical cliff faces.

Storage Instructions and Important Information

Store in a cool, dry and dark place. Best temperature range for storage and serving is between 15 and 25°C.

Wild honeys from Warré hives contain bee bread (pollen fermented by beneficial bacteria) and propolis showing proven antioxidant and medicinal activity. In extremely rare cases, pollen can cause allergic reactions.

As this honey is seasonal, wild, harvested from small apiaries, and bottled in micro batches, natural variation in colour, texture and pollen richness will occur from batch to batch. The honey you receive may be a slightly different colour from that pictured above but is the same variety. They do not overheat, filter or homogenise their honey to make every jar uniform in colour and texture as that damages the nutritional integrity of the honey.

Malfroy’s Gold is an Australian family beekeeping operation based in the Blue Mountains of New South Wales. Their apiaries are located across the rugged landscapes of the World Heritage listed Greater Blue Mountains region, where ancient eucalypt forests and diverse wildflower ecosystems provide extraordinary nectar sources for their bees.

This protected wilderness spans more than one million hectares and rises from sea level to over 1000 metres in altitude. The region is botanically rich, with more than 1,500 flowering plant species recorded and over 13 percent of the world’s eucalypt species occurring naturally within its forests.

Bees from each colony forage widely across woodland, open forest, rainforest edges, heathland, swamplands and stream valleys. Because of this broad foraging range, the honey produced here reflects the wider landscape rather than a single flowering source.

Each harvest captures the changing character of the Blue Mountains environment, making every batch subtly different in flavour and aroma.

Raw Warré Hive Honey

This honey is produced using Warré hives and minimal intervention methods.

Wild honeys from Warré hives may naturally contain:

• Bee bread (pollen fermented by beneficial bacteria)

• Propolis

• Naturally occurring pollen

These components contribute to the honey’s distinctive flavour and natural antioxidant activity.

In rare cases, pollen may trigger allergic reactions in sensitive individuals.

Storage and Natural Variation

Store in a cool, dry, dark place.

Ideal storage temperature is between 15 and 25°C.

Because this honey is wild harvested, minimally processed and bottled in micro batches, natural variation in colour, texture and pollen richness will occur between batches.

Malfroy’s Gold does not overheat, filter or homogenise their honey to standardise appearance, as these processes can damage flavour and nutritional integrity.
