Wolof Woven Basket - White

Coil style of basket waiving is a traditional trade for woman in Senegal. These large bowl shaped baskets are handcrafted by a group of rural Wolof women in Senegal, West Africa as part of a fair-trade project. These baskets are woven from a local grass called ‘njodax’ and recycled plastic strips (which are discarded in the production of prayer mats) to ease the pain of old-fashion techniques. Perfect as a fruit, general goods bowl or decorative piece in any room.

Please Note • The basket shown is an example. Due to the handmade nature, each basket is unique in pattern and will vary slightly in shape and size.

Measures roughly 53cm diameter x 13cm high.
Origin | Senegal, Africa
