Akagome is a traditional Japanese red rice preserved for generations in Soja City, Okayama Prefecture. Naturally reddish brown in colour, the grain contains its bran layer, giving it a nutty, aroma, gentle chew, and a warm earthy depth when cooked.
Traditionally mixed with white rice, akagome cooks to a soft blush tone and brings a subtle texture and flavour to everyday meals. It has been valued in Japanese cooking for its natural nutritional density.
Produced by Red Rice Company Inc, this a Japanese red rice, simply milled and packed. A small amount goes a long way - add one to two tablespoons per cup of white rice, rinse together and cook as usual.
