Handmade in Sydney, this one-of-a-kind bracelet is composed from Japanese glass and seed beads alongside antique Japanese, African, and Venetian trade beads. Each piece is arranged intuitively, guided by the artist’s eye to create a quiet rhythm of colour, texture, and time.
The makers are avid collectors of rare and unusual beads, gathered over years of travel and incorporated thoughtfully into each composition. Bracelet 008 draws its palette from time spent in the Setouchi region, around Kurashiki and the coastal towns of Okayama, where white plaster walls, weathered timber, ceramic details, and small red accents create a calm, balanced landscape. Soft ivory and cream form the base, layered with muted pastels, warm earth tones, and touches of vermilion that bring the composition gently to life.
At the centre sits a traditional cherry bead, a hand-formed glass bead produced by Osaka-area workshops during the late Meiji to early Showa period, originally made for everyday adornment. The bracelet also features a vintage Chinese bead and a small red focal bead that adds warmth and contrast within the otherwise quiet palette.
Each piece takes hours to make, its structure built bead by bead in an unrepeatable sequence. No two are ever the same. Designed to be worn alone as a subtle statement or layered for added texture and depth.
