The First Foray Set – Hojicha is an easy introduction to roasted Japanese tea. It pairs Shokōya Hōjicha powder by Higashiyama-en range with a clear 300ml glass tumbler by Bormioli Rocco, bringing together tea and vessel in one considered set.
Made from double roasted green tea leaves grown in Nishio, Aichi Prefecture, this hojicha offers a warm, rounded profile with notes of toasted grain, cacao and light wood smoke. The roasting deepens its character while preserving clarity and balance.
Naturally low in caffeine and gentle on the palate, it suits late afternoons, evenings or anyone looking for depth without intensity. Unlike matcha, hojicha requires no whisking. Simply stir with hot water for a lighter cup, or prepare with milk for a fuller, roasted character. Its structure also holds well in iced preparation, making it adaptable across seasons.
Designed to nestle comfortably in your hand, the tumbler’s curved form and smooth rim make sipping effortless and satisfying. The clear glass highlights hojicha’s amber tone, allowing the colour and weight of the tea to be fully appreciated. Whether prepared traditionally with hot water or enjoyed as a milk based drink, the simplicity of the vessel allows the character of the tea to take centre stage.
