Aoarashi (青嵐) is an award winning ceremonial grade matcha from Marukyu Koyamaen, known for its delicacy and low astringency. Positioned toward the lighter end of the house’s ceremonial range, it offers clarity and gentle balance.

Prepared as usucha, Aoarashi is light and softly herbaceous, with minimal bitterness and restrained astringency. The profile is fresh and clean, finishing with a smooth, creamy softness that makes it approachable and easy to drink. Its gentle structure makes it particularly suitable for those beginning their matcha journey.

The name Aoarashi, meaning Blue Storm, evokes mountain mist and cool air. The blend reflects this sense of brightness and refreshment through its delicate, uplifting character.

Marukyu Koyamaen, founded in 1704 and based in Uji, Kyoto, remains one of Japan’s most established tea houses with long standing ties to ceremonial blending and tea school traditions.
