Akagome - Japanese Red Rice

Dispatches from Sydney within 1–2 business days

Akagome is a traditional Japanese red rice from Soja City in Okayama Prefecture, cultivated and preserved for generations.

Naturally reddish-brown with its bran layer intact, the grains add a gentle chew, subtle nuttiness and a warm, earthy depth when cooked. Traditionally mixed with white rice, akagome turns the pot a soft blush and adds both texture and quiet flavour to everyday meals.

Produced by Red Rice Company Inc., the rice is simply milled and packed to retain its natural character. A little goes a long way. Add 1 to 2 tablespoons per cup of white rice, rinse together and cook as usual.

A simple way to bring colour, texture and quiet depth to everyday rice.
