Eastern Hill is a name that disappeared from the map sometime after 1820. As the ridge was carved into suburbs — Darlinghurst, Woolloomooloo, Kings Cross, Potts Point — the name that once described the whole of it was quietly retired. Progress has a way of doing that.

The Thylacine knows this story. Once ranging across the continent, it was already gone from the mainland by the time the first settlers arrived on the Eastern Hill. In Tasmania it held on longer, until the same era caught up with it there too. Bounties, land clearing, livestock to protect. The last one died in a Hobart zoo in 1936, just as the suburb lines around the Eastern Hill had long since settled into permanence.

Two things erased by the same period of history. The Icon Tee reclaims these forgotten threads, reviving them as part of Eastern Hill’s narrative. Featuring the Thylacine, it becomes more than a logo. It is a symbol of endurance, memory and the stories worth carrying forward. Just as the Thylacine lingers in cultural imagination, so too does Eastern Hill, etched into the fabric of Sydney's history and carried forward through design.
