Malfroy’s Gold Blue Mountains World Heritage Post Brood Polyflora Honey is a distinctive wild honey harvested from mature “post brood” combs within Warré hives in the Blue Mountains of New South Wales.

At the end of the season these dark, pollen rich combs are gently crushed and strained. The honey is settled naturally before being bottled into glass jars, where it slowly sets into a smooth, creamy texture.

Because the combs have passed through the brood nest over time, the honey contains the concentrated essence of nectar, pollen and natural tree resins collected by the bees. This produces a deeply complex honey with remarkable richness and depth of flavour.

Post brood combs also contain exceptionally high levels of bee bread (naturally fermented pollen) and propolis, contributing to the honey’s dense texture and layered aromatics.

This batch has been independently tested with an activity rating of TA 10+ (equivalent to UMF 10+ / MGO 100+).

Each jar reflects the natural flora and seasonal conditions of the Blue Mountains wilderness where it was gathered.

Malfroy’s Gold is an Australian family beekeeping operation based in the Blue Mountains of New South Wales. Their apiaries are located across the rugged landscapes of the World Heritage listed Greater Blue Mountains region, where ancient eucalypt forests and diverse wildflower ecosystems provide extraordinary nectar sources for their bees.

This protected wilderness spans more than one million hectares and rises from sea level to over 1000 metres in altitude. The region is botanically rich, with more than 1,500 flowering plant species recorded and over 13 percent of the world’s eucalypt species occurring naturally within its forests.

Bees from each colony forage widely across woodland, open forest, rainforest edges, heathland, swamplands and stream valleys. Because of this broad foraging range, the honey produced here reflects the wider landscape rather than a single flowering source.

Each harvest captures the changing character of the Blue Mountains environment, making every batch subtly different in flavour and aroma.

Malfroy’s Gold honeys are widely used by leading Australian restaurants including Saint Peter, Oncore, Mimi’s and Quay.

Post Brood Honey

This honey is produced from “post brood” combs within Warré hives.

Over time these combs pass through the brood nest and accumulate layers of pollen, propolis and natural tree resins alongside stored honey. At the end of the season the mature combs are gently crushed and strained to release the honey.

Post brood honey contains exceptionally high concentrations of bee bread (fermented pollen) and propolis, giving the honey a deeper colour, dense texture and rich flavour.

Research into traditional Warré hive honey has shown that post brood comb honey may contain dramatically higher pollen levels than conventionally produced honey.

Storage and Natural Variation

Store in a cool, dry and dark place.

Ideal storage temperature is 15 to 25°C.

Because this honey is wild harvested, minimally processed and bottled in small batches, natural variation in colour, texture and pollen richness will occur between harvests.

The honey may gradually set or crystallise over time. This is a natural characteristic of raw honey and does not affect its quality.
