Exotic and indulgent Tonka – the fourth fragrance from Laboratory Perfumes. Tonka’s story begins in a jar of pink peppercorns. Rummaging in the spice cupboard, they discovered that beneath their peppery notes, the dried berries of the Peruvian pepper tree have a finely balanced floral fruitiness to their aroma – which they believed would work wonderfully for their fourth fragrance.
In the laboratory, that peppercorn scent is paired with the zing of mandarin, and added a layer of depth and richness with warm woodland aromatics. The finishing touch is provided by the vanilla-tobacco notes of the tonka bean – its captivating earthiness holds the scent together, and gives it the complex, exotic and cleanly elegant fragrance its name.

All our scents are made in the UK using socially conscious, environmentally friendly and cruelty-free ingredients. We don’t test on animals and our scents are created in our lab using essential and fragrant oils. All of them are skin-kind and free from parabens (Gorse does contain a small amount of phthalates & preservatives which are required to stabilise the citrus oils).
Lastly, all of our products are full compliant with the International Fragrance Association Standards.
Laboratory Perfumes fragrances are made with non-animal-derived ingredients and therefore vegan.
We demand the same ethical and environmental standards of everyone we work with – our supply chain is small, transparent, located entirely within the UK and fully adherent to ISO 9000: 2008. All glass, card and paper used in Laboratory Perfumes packaging is sustainably sourced and widely recycled.
