Mandalay - Blue/Orange/Purple

Dispatch from Sydney in 1–2 business days

A nod to the striped awnings of provision shops once found under every HDB void deck in Singapore, and the carryalls used by ladies at the wet market, this woven bucket reinterprets everyday utility in a more compact, rounded silhouette.

Crafted in India from 100 percent recycled woven nylon derived from industrial gunny sacks, the material is transformed into colourful threads and woven into resilient fabric. The bucket shape offers depth without bulk, allowing essentials to drop in easily while maintaining structure.

Unlike the vertical tote, the cylindrical body sits closer to the frame and moves fluidly with you. Ideal for lighter daily carry, travel days or evenings out when you want utility without excess.

Each piece is cut from a continuous roll of fabric, so stripe placement and handle colour will vary. Subtle irregular stitching reflects the material’s industrial origins and forms part of its character.

Modernised for contemporary pace, the woven bucket balances cultural memory with everyday practicality.

Important Material Note
Because these bags are made from recycled woven nylon, natural variations may occur. Small holes, weaving marks and irregularities, frayed threads, colour variation, or irregular stitching are normal characteristics of the material and not considered faults. Each bag is cut from a continuous roll of fabric, so stripe placement and handle colours will vary from piece to piece.

Isle of Tigers is an in house line by Eastern Hill General Supplies.

The name reflects our interpretation of Singapore as an island of titans. Tigers stand in for strength that is watchful rather than loud, ferocious without excess. It points to a culture shaped by resilience, precision, and survival.

Isle of Tigers is grounded in merged and convergent cultures across Southeast Asia and the Straits. Influenced by Peranakan traditions, the collection reflects processes of hybridization formed through trade, migration, and daily exchange. These conditions shape how colour, pattern, material, and function come together across the range.

Products are designed to be used, not displayed. Whether worn, carried, or used at home, each piece balances utility with cultural intelligence, without nostalgia or spectacle.

Isle of Tigers is an evolving body of work grounded in place and contemporary life.

Material Characteristics

These bags are produced using recycled industrial gunny sacks that are processed into nylon threads and woven into durable fabric. Because the material is reclaimed and woven at scale, minor variations may occur.

These may include:

• slight colour variation between panels
• weaving marks or surface scratches
• small holes or irregular stitch points
• frayed threads
• occasional colour bleed from dyed fibres
• variation in handle colours due to fabric remnants

In order to minimise material waste, pieces are cut from a continuous roll of fabric and remnants are used where possible. Measurements may also vary slightly due to the nature of cutting and sewing woven nylon.

These characteristics are part of the construction and are not considered manufacturing faults.

Care Instructions

  • Whilst these bags are tough, over-filling them will stress the nylon beyond their limit and split the stitching.
  • Keep your bag out of long-term direct sunlight to maintain its vibrant colours. Exposure to direct sunlight and other harsh lights will cause colours to fade. Fading will occur over time with use.
  • Spot clean with a damp cloth. Avoid soaking your bag in water. Do not wash or tumble dry as this will cause the nylon to melt and harden. Let it air dry naturally.
  • Avoid bleach, alcohol based product. strong detergent, or abrasive cleaners.
  • These bags have been colour fasted however. colour bleed may occur from incidents such as swimwear that has been in chlorinated water or contact from alcohol based liquids. In such incidents, place items in an extra bag and avoid contact of bags against light coloured fabrics or clothing.
  • When storing fabrics such as towels, linen or articles of clothing in these bags for extended periods, please place the items in a seperate bag before storing to avoid colour transfer.
