About Milk Glass
Although milk glass has existed for centuries, it reached the height of its popularity from the late nineteenth century through the early twentieth century. Inspired by French decorative glass, American manufacturers embraced the material for its elegant appearance, durability and affordability, producing serving pieces that became staples of family dining tables across generations.
Milk glass experienced a revival during the mid twentieth century, particularly throughout the 1950s and 1960s, when iconic patterns such as Hobnail and classic serving wares became household favourites. Today these vintage pieces are appreciated for both their practical function and their enduring design.
Condition
This is an original vintage piece and is sold individually.
The platter is in excellent vintage condition with no chips and only minimal signs of age consistent with careful use.
As with most vintage milk glass, slight variations in tone, small marks and occasional manufacturing specks may be present. These tiny inclusions occurred during the original firing process and are part of the character of authentic vintage milk glass rather than defects.
