The First Foray Set - Matcha

Dispatches from Sydney within 1–2 business days

The First Foray Set – Matcha is a simple starting point for daily matcha. It pairs Higashiyama-en’s Goryoku, a vibrant, umami rich matcha from Nishio, with a clear 300ml glass tumbler by Italian maker Bormioli Rocco.

Goryoku is selected for clarity, structure and everyday strength. Its sweet milk chocolate aroma and smooth vegetal depth give it enough presence to drink straight, while carrying beautifully through milk and iced preparation.

Designed to nestle comfortably in your hand, the tumbler’s curved form and smooth rim make sipping natural and balanced. The clear glass highlights the matcha’s vivid green hue, allowing colour, texture and suspension to be fully appreciated from whisk to final sip.

Together, tea and vessel turn the simple act of preparation into something deliberate. Whether whisked traditionally or poured over ice, the structure of Goryoku remains clear and composed.

A practical place to begin, and a reliable foundation for daily matcha.

Higashiyama-en is the tea line developed in-house by Eastern Hill General Supplies.

The name references Kyoto’s Higashiyama ward, a historic centre of Japanese tea culture closely connected to Uji matcha. It reflects an approach shaped by precision, respect for process, and a long view of craft.

This philosophy parallels our own Eastern Hill identity, with both names speaking to a place, a landscape, and a way of working that values restraint, consistency, and quiet confidence.

Teas are sourced from established producers and selected for cultivar, growing conditions, processing, and reliability. The range is curated for daily use, offering matcha that performs with clarity while remaining grounded in tradition.
